{"id":267,"date":"2020-10-30T23:23:02","date_gmt":"2020-10-30T23:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vitisconsulting.pt\/?page_id=267"},"modified":"2020-11-17T22:37:42","modified_gmt":"2020-11-17T22:37:42","slug":"imd-world-digital-competitiveness-ranking-2020","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/vitisconsulting.pt\/index.php\/noticias\/imd-world-digital-competitiveness-ranking-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>IMD World Digital Competitiveness ranking 2020<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.5&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.6.6&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 de Outubro de 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Portugal ocupa a 37\u00ba posi\u00e7\u00e3o do ranking de competitividade digital do IMD World Competitiveness center, divulgado recentemente, mantendo assim a tend\u00eancia decrescente dos \u00faltimos cinco anos, com excep\u00e7\u00e3o de 2018.<br \/>Apesar de ter conseguido melhorias ligeiras nas \u00e1reas do conhecimento e da tecnologia, o posicionamento nacional caiu 3 posi\u00e7\u00f5es face a 2019 e n\u00e3o conseguiu acompanhar o ritmo de competitividade digital de outros pa\u00edses.<br \/>Com as devidas v\u00e9nias transcrevemos parte da informa\u00e7\u00e3o publicada pelo IMD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the beginning of the year, every aspect of our lives has been affected by the pandemic. <br \/>Technology has been incorporated to address the pandemic in different dimensions from communication to monitoring, assessing and, hopefully in the nondistant future, finding a cure for the virus.<br \/>For most countries the responses of the survey were acquired during the first wave of COVID-19.<br \/>WDCR measures the capacity and readiness of 63 economies to adopt and explore digital technologies for economic and social transformation.<br \/>The ranking relies on three factors:<br \/>\u2022 Knowledge, which captures the intangible infrastructure necessary for the learning and discovery dimensions of technology;<br \/>\u2022 Technology, which quantifies the landscape of developing digital technologies; and<br \/>\u2022 Future Readiness, that examines the level of preparedness of an economy to assume its digital transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Methodology in a Nutshell<br \/> 1. The IMD World Digital Competitiveness (WDC) ranking analyzes and ranks the extent to which countries adopt and explore digital technologies leading to transformation in government practices, business models and society in general.<\/p>\n<p>2. As in the case of the IMD World Competitiveness ranking, is assumed that digital transformation takes place primarily at enterprise level (whether private or state-owned) but it also occurs at the government and society levels.<\/p>\n<p>3. Based on the research, the methodology of the WDC ranking defines digital competitiveness into three main factors: &#8211; Knowledge &#8211; Technology &#8211; Future readiness<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">4. In turn, each of these factors is divided into 3 sub-factors which highlight every facet of the areas analyzed. Altogether, the WDC features 9 such sub-factors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5. These 9 sub-factors comprise 52 criteria, although each sub-factor does not necessarily have the same number of criteria (for example, it takes more criteria to assess Training and Education than to evaluate IT integration).<\/p>\n<p>6. Each sub-factor, independently of the number of criteria it contains, has the same weight in the overall consolidation of results, that is approximately 11.1% (100 \u00f7 9 ~ 11.1).<\/p>\n<p>7. Criteria can be hard data, which analyze digital competitiveness as it can be measured (e.g. Internet bandwidth speed) or soft data, which analyze competitiveness as it can be perceived (e.g. Agility of companies). Hard criteria represent a weight of 2\/3 in the overall ranking whereas the survey data represent a weight of 1\/3.<\/p>\n<p>8. The 52 criteria include 19 new indicators which are only used in the assessment of the WDC ranking. The rest of the indicators are shared with the IMD World Competitiveness Ranking.<\/p>\n<p>9. In addition, two criteria are for background information only, which means that they are not used in calculating the overall competitiveness ranking (i.e., Population and GDP).<\/p>\n<p>10.
